About Me

My name is Kayla Sweatt, the artist behind this digital portfolio. As a Tybee Island local, born and raised, I am deeply inspired by the coastal beauty that surrounds me. Through my artwork, I aim to capture the essence of this magical place. From herons and shore birds to expansive landscapes and golden sunsets, all of my work is infused with the world around me. Specializing in acrylics and oils, I love incorporating lots of texture into my paintings. This texture not only adds depth and dimension to my pieces but also creates movement within them. What's fascinating is that the texture catches the light differently throughout the day, transforming the painting's appearance as the sun moves across the sky. This interplay between seasons, natural light, and even artificial light fixtures creates a dynamic and ever-evolving visual experience for the viewer.
